Welcome to (my) post zero.

In this blog, I will try to share with you thoughts, ideas, and experiences from our day to day work in Skyline. Innovations start from the environment you work in, so I will tell you a little about what's happening in the Skyline ideas factory. These developments are worthless without you, our users and integrators. Having the pleasure of being one of Skyline's frequent flyers (and I don't mean in TerraExplorer), I will also try – starting from this post – to highlight some interesting projects and events from around the world.

This post is actually written on a flight back from India, seems like soon enough I will have some interesting stories about "Bhuvan" - a new NRSC (National Remote Sensing Center – part of Indian Space Research Organisation) SkylineGlobe web portal. SkylineGlobe Enterprise Edition is the perfect fit for an organization of this type, which acquires and maintains large amount of proprietary data and looking for a way to share it with the public. India seems to be booming with opportunities as we hear from our recently added RSI Indian distributor.

From the land-down-under we have an exciting city council portal for the city of Adelaide. The site is planned to be launched in a few weeks. Meanwhile from the press release, here is the vision: "Adelaide is becoming a more exciting place to live and visit, with plenty of things to do and see. As a dynamic and growing city, the skyline has changed dramatically over the last 10 years. The City of Adelaide Strategic Plan 2008-2012 highlights the adoption of a 3D spatial model of the City as a key tool to assist in planning for the future growth of the City, particularly in relation to future growth scenario testing and for land use planning.". And a great vision it is thanks to the folks at McMullenNolan, the southern-most Skyline distributor!

Explore the richness of yet another SGEE portal coming from Wuyishan city in China. Finally there is some public data coming from our partner's, EastDawn that do a tremendous amount of SGEE implementations all over China (unfortunately most of them in private networks). We have seen many presentations of such implementation last March in the EastDawn-Skyline conference, that was followed with a highly participated training (image below) .The ones (most) of you that do not have Chinese characters installed, may encounter some missing resources and gibberish texts. However you can still enjoy random clicks on the different UI elements and some goodies in the form of detailed urban modeling on one hand, and extraordinary landscape on the other. Bandwidth to outside of China may be limited.

Some more eye-candies, under the same language and region limitations mentioned above, come from Taiwan, in the form of the mapi beta portal. Click the "MapiXX" button at the top-center, then on the left select the checkbox containing "3d", then fly to Taipei for an incredible amount of textured buildings. NetGeo, our long time distributor has done a great job here. Look for the world's tallest completed Skyscraper…

Have you seen the skyline YouTube channel? Waiting for all of you to contribute your Skyline made movies so we can add you as our favorites.
